Is OfRoot Care Updates an emergency alert system?
No. Care Updates are for calm, patient-authored communication. Use the hospital call button, speak with the care team, or contact local emergency services when immediate help is needed.
Does a Care Update become part of the official medical record?
No. A Care Update is the patient's own summary for people they choose. It does not replace the hospital chart, discharge instructions, or clinical documentation.
Who can read a private Care Update?
Only the patient and recipients the patient selects. Family and caregiver invitations require a matching verified OfRoot account. Clinic sharing is limited to a named provider with an active clinic membership.
Can a recipient edit what the patient wrote?
No. Recipients have read-only access. A patient may edit a private draft, publish an update, and add a separate correction when something changes.
Does the free planner save or send what I type?
No. The practice planner on this page keeps text only in the current browser tab. It does not save the draft to OfRoot or send it to another person.
