The ingredient

What is Magnesium Glycinate?

Magnesium is a mineral involved in normal muscle and nerve function. Glycinate describes the form in which magnesium is bound to glycine. The final OfRoot formula has not yet been selected.

Evidence, with its limits

What does the research say?

Magnesium has established nutritional roles. That does not mean a supplement will improve your sleep. Research on magnesium for insomnia is limited and has included small, low-quality studies. We are not promising a sleep benefit.

Read beyond the front label

How to read a Magnesium Glycinate label

Look for elemental magnesium per serving, not just the weight of magnesium glycinate. The approved label will need to show the serving size, all ingredients, and relevant warnings.

Before adding it

A conversation
comes first.

This is ingredient education, not a suggestion that you should take it.

  • Ask a clinician before use if you have a kidney condition. Your kidneys help remove excess magnesium.
  • Magnesium can affect the absorption of some antibiotics and osteoporosis medicines. Ask your pharmacist about your medicines before adding it.
  • Magnesium supplements can cause digestive side effects. A larger amount is not automatically more useful.
